Modern Mythology I by escapepodone Modern Mythology I by escapepodone
The final result of my Print Production class last quarter (Cal Poly Pomona Spring '08): a collaboration with one of my favorite photographers, Scott James Cochran. The assignment was to come up with a collection of images with a strong driving concept. My theme was to blend themes of ancient mythology with modern fashion photography. The handmade booklet, Modern Mythology, was eventually packaged as set of cards with a custom die-cut for the case.

There's a free wallpaper set, a few more art samples and some sample shots here.

I quite like it. The main thing I'd have liked to see would be those lines flowing more accurately with the material to help the image flow across to the right of the canvas better. I think you could possibly have scaled down the main focal points too (the woman, triangles), as it seems like I'm sitting too close to the image, even when I move back from it.

this is really bold stuff, still rough (ideologically - the theme is still finding it's self)
But the design/aesthetics are refreshing.
Great job

Yep - agreed on the 'still finding itself' comment. These all happened over the course of about 8 days... really not enough time to truly pursue a concept, but enough to give them some clarity (and grab a quick A in the class). Who knows, at some point I might return to the theme - for now I treat them as a nice set of process sketches that entertain a design concept. Good to hear from ya Val!
